Darren Hiebel

About Darren Hiebel

Please welcome Darren Hiebel to Fountain Hills Unified School District!

Darren is thrilled to be joining us as the new assistant principal at the high school.

Darren recently completed his masters in educational leadership at Arizona State University. He is originally from Connecticut and moved to Arizona in 2005 to pursue his masters in secondary education at Northern Arizona University. His 15 year teaching career has allowed him to teach in a number of different countries including Japan, Uganda, and China. These experiences have given him the privilege to travel to 16 countries and counting, his favorite destination being Ecuador where he was able to hike one of the world’s largest volcanoes.

His other pursuits include racing bikes competitively for a local cycling team and spending time with his daughter and wife. Darren is a major sports fan and loves his Cleveland Browns and UCONN basketball teams.

Welcome to our Falcon family, Darren!

Jeff Bonner
Physical Education Teacher

About Jeff Bonner

Please welcome Jeff Bonner as a teacher to the Falcon family!

Jeff is excited to continue being a part of this district. Moving from a recent role as a substitute teacher/classroom aide into a full time teaching position has been a goal of his since graduating high school, and he is so grateful to have this opportunity.

As a graduate of West Texas A&M with a bachelors in sports and exercise sciences with an emphasis on applied sports in 2016, education is something that he values deeply. While attending West Texas A&M he played basketball for the Buffalos and was awarded the scholar-athlete award during graduation for his achievements in the classroom while still managing being to be a part of the basketball team. Upon graduating from West Texas he began coaching and eventually found his way back to Fountain Hills Unified School District (FHUSD). As a graduate from Fountain Hills High School (FHHS) in 2012, you could say it was just a matter of time.

Jeff has been around the district in various positions for about four years and it has felt more like home with each year. With his substitute and subject matter expert standard teaching (physical education) certification, he is willing and able to take on any role necessary. For his efforts throughout his time in the district he also has an A+ School of Excellence Award and an AVID Committee Award. He really values being a part of this community and giving back in any way he can. As mentioned, this is heavily fueled by him attending all four years of high school here and having dreams of one day doing exactly what he will be doing next year. Moving from the role of English 9 classroom coach/classroom aide to a role as a physical education teacher is an amazing opportunity that he is thrilled with taking.

His mother, father, and sister are the only immediate family he has in Arizona. A native of Houston Texas, where most of his family resides, he likes to take vacations there any chance he gets. Family is important to him, and you can see this by the support his family gives to him. If you get the chance to come watch the FHHS boys play a home game you may just see his mom, dad, and sister in the stands cheering the boys on.

He is big into being outdoors. Camping and fishing are things he loves to do when he gets free time. He is also really big into sports and athletics in general, basketball being his sport of choice, but anything to keep him moving and active he will be happy doing.

Welcome, Jeff, to your dream position in FHUSD!
