The Refocus Room gives students an opportunity to literally "refocus" when they are struggling with behavior in the classroom. Teachers will send a student to the Refocus Room (library) when they believe it is in the best interest of the student to do so. Upon arrival, a student will meet with our intervention specialist and reflect on their behavior. Students answer a questionnaire to help the administration understand what the issue is, which helps us find solutions. The goal is to give students a place to reflect and restore their relationship with their teacher. We will notify parents when we send a student to the Refocus Room to allow them an opportunity to be part of the solution and have input in developing a plan of improvement. Teachers will give students opportunities to improve in class prior to sending them for intervention. The goal of this program is to teach students why their behavior is unacceptable, but also how to improve and learn from each situation.
